169 not out! Sachin Tendulkar becomes most capped Test cricketer

Sachin Tendulkar became the world’s most capped Test cricketer in the early hours of Tuesday morning as India faced Sri Lanka in Colombo.

The 37-year-old batting great, already a record holder for runs scored in both Tests and one-day internationals, surpassed former Australia captain Steve Waugh as he played his 169th Test.
'It has been a long journey,' he said, 'The 169th test. I still remember the first test match that I played in Pakistan.

'Very happy that I have had the privilege of such a long journey at international level and this was my dream.

'To play for India was my dream and getting to play 169 Test matches is fantastic.'
Tendulkar made his international debut in 1989 at the age of 16 and has since played 168 Tests and 442 one-day internationals.

He has scored 13,742 Test runs, including a record 48 centuries..
